As Riley mentioned, we had a plan.
As Riley predicted, things didn't go quite according to plan.
According to plan:
We hiked many kilometers.
We were tired at the end of each day.
We were ready to sleep as soon as our heads hit the ground.
We ate all of our food minus 2 unripe pears and a packet of Sprim.
We saw incredible landscapes.
Riley saw Guanacos (similar to a Llama) for the first time.
We had a memorable Valentine's Day.
We enjoyed ourselves immensely.
Not according to plan:
We started hiking at 12:00pm the first day.
We didn't bring sufficient money.
Mosquito attack at camp uno.
Blisters/inadequate footwear.
Need to leave park by mid-afternoon on 16th.
Total hiking hours: 21 hours
Total time in the park: 49 hours
Total Kilometers: ~70km
We took a boat to complete the final leg of the journey.
To Sum Up
February 14, 2012 Valentine's Day
The hike begins.
Another year together on the trail.
Lunch.
Patagonian river valleys.
Camp uno: Lago Dickson.
Our home.
Washing feet after 30 km in running flats.
Feburary 15, 2012 A Full Day of Hiking
The pass looking toward Glacier Grey.
The duo up top.
Very reliable trail systems.
Smiling though tired.
Dessert: chocolate cookie with manjar...mmm.
February 16, 2012 Unknowns
The majority of the forest in the park consist of this tree called Lenga.
Calafate. Eat this and legend says that you will return to Patagonia.
Stunning views of glacier grey as we made our way out.
Hiking through burn zones from unfortunate, recent fires.
The culprits for most of our trials over the last two days (mine anyways).
Guanaco.
View from the boat ride out.
That's all folks!
We consider ourselves lucky to have had the opportunity to see this place and hope to get back down here someday!
